It was the 10th of May, 1857. Today was not a peaceful day like any other day. It was the day when a fierce battle began. In the morning a commotion began in Meerut. The clouds of war were looming, and so it happened that the war began with a rebellion.

The rebellion began on 10 May 1857 in the form of a mutiny of sepoys of the company’s army in the garrison town of Meerut, 40 mi (64 km) northeast of Delhi. This was the war of 1857, It was named Indian Rebellion of 1857, also known as the First War of Indian Independence or Revolt of 1857. This war started with the rebellion of the soldiers, That is why it was called the mutiny of sepoys (The Sipahi Vidroh).
